Excel Functions Library
Excel

dscTech's RLJL Language has a new function library that has been added for the ECS Master Client v6. The Excel Function Library allows you to gather data, copy and paste data, and edit Excel spreadsheets. Now combining those daily Excel reports can be a breeze with these new functions.

The new Excel functions are:
  • EX - [OPEN] Open File Function
This function opens a new Excel spreadsheet.
  • EX - [OPENREAD] OpenRead Function
This function opens an existing spreadsheet in read and write mode, so that the spreadsheet can be modified.
  • EX - [AddData] AddData Function
The Add Data function allows you to add data into a specific cell within the open spreadsheet.
  • EX - [ReadData] ReadData Function
The Read Data function allows you to pull data from a specific cell within the open spreadsheet.
  • EX - [CopyFrom] CopyFrom Function
This function copies data from a range of cells within a spreadsheet and then pastes the data into a range on a different spreadsheet.
  • EX - [SAVE] SAVE File Function
The Save File Function saves the open file.
  • EX - [SAVEAS] SAVEAS File Function
The Save As File Function allows you to save the file with a new name or in a different directory.
  • EX - [CLOSE] CLOSE File Function
This function will save the specified file, close it, and then clean up that file session.
  • EX - [CLOSEALL] CLOSEALL File Function
This function closes all open Excel spreadsheets without saving them, and then cleans up all of the sessions.
For a full explanation and example of each of these new functions, log in to the Client Access portion of our web site, and select the Program Documentation tab.  Scroll down to the RLJL Language Function Documentation and click on the link to access the RLJL Language Function PDF, scroll to page 137.

Another Java Update

The constant Java updates can get pretty annoying. There is a simple way to turn this off; however you should check for updates regularly, as there may be a security patch in there.
  1. Right-click on the Java update notification when it appears in your system tray.
  2. Click the "Properties" option and then click on the "Update" tab.
  3. Uncheck the "Check for Update Automatically" option to stop Java from automatically checking for updates and notifying you.
  4. Click the "OK" button to save your preference and close the Java control panel.
If you have any questions about updating your computer, please email mandi@dsctech.net.
