Techies on the side
Buying a new computer that will grow with you... |
If you are in the market for a computer, you want one that will keep up with your needs. No matter how often your old computer gets cleaned up and unused programs get removed, it still seems to slow down. To keep this from happening to your new computer, do your research before you buy one.
First, decide what the computer will be used for. Now that you have that, review the list below to find the processor and amount of RAM you will need. |
|
Home/General Use- Web browsing, Email checking, and paper writing. Economy CPU - Centrino, Atom, or Celeron RAM - Depends on the operating system, but currently go with nothing below 1GB. However, you should check the specs on the computer. You want one that can be upgraded to at least 4GB.
Small Business Use- Web browsing, Multi-tasking with Programs.
Mid Range CPU - Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Pentium Dual Core, Athlon X2, or Turion X2
RAM - At least 2GB up to 4GB.
Professional Use - Professional Video and Audio Editing, and Advanced 3-D Gaming.
High End CPU - Core i7, Core i5, or Phenom II X4
RAM - 4GB or more.
