Another Use for the ECS

Do your customer service representatives struggle to determine what services are located in a particular section of your service area?  Do you wish there were a simple way (such as clicking a button) for service feature accessibility to be given to potential clients?  If you answered yes to either of these questions, you need the ECS.

The ECS performs task automation and network consolidation.  Any task that can be manually done to equipment can be automatically done with the ECS.  Therefore, the ECS can allow a customer service representative to click on a button and within a minute know exactly what services and features are available to clients based on their service location without the customer service representative having to access all the systems needed to determine this information.

If you currently have an ECS and are interested in learning how to setup the software to determine service and features based on service location, please contact one of our technicians at support@dsctech.net.  If you don't currently own an ECS and are interested in learning more about it, please check out the ECS page of our Web site.

Tecchies at the Bottom - Wireless Network Security

In last month's newsletter, we discussed how to setup a wireless network in your home or office.  This month we will expand on this topic by discussing wireless network security.  Below are several security measures that we recommend you follow after installing your wireless network:
  • Change the default administrator usernames and passwords
  • Turn on encryption
  • Change the default SSID (the network name that access points and routers use)
  • Disable SSID broadcast
  • Enable MAC address filtering
  • Assign static IP addresses to devices
  • Enable firewalls on each computer connected to the wireless network and the router
  • Turn off the network during extended periods of non-use
dscTech, Inc. offers a variety of computer services and if you have any questions or need any help with the above recommendations, please feel free to contact us.
