Benefits
- Customer Service
- Allows Customer Service Representatives to add or change lines or features without direct access to switch or other peripherals
- Central Office
- Creates secure remote access to central office
- Revenue
- Controls errors and loss of revenue
- Eliminates costly windshield time
Features
- Serial Communications
- Connects to peripherals via RS232 link
- Telnet Communications
- Communicates across Ethernet network via TCP/IP protocol
- ECS Master Client
- Allows connections to be made to peripherals through the ECS
or directly to a peripheral from the machine on which the client resides
- ECS Client
- Only allows connections to be made to peripherals through the ECS
- Advanced Security and Firewall Features
- Only a mated client, a client created for the server, can directly connect to the server ports
- Through assignments of groups and users, the administrator has total control over the level of access a user has to a peripheral
- ECS acts as a firewall. The user sends encrypted information to the ECS, which communicates with the peripheral
- If allowed access, through permissions set by the central office engineers, the mated clients can access peripherals via the internet from anywhere in the world
- User Profiles allow users to log in from any mated client and their security settings and Button Objects will be there
- User Profiles are cross-checked each time a user accesses the ECS for any reason
- A single Button Object's security can be password restricted
- Allows for greater security between client and ECS
- Prohibits interruptions of ECS users by clients of a lower access level
- Enhanced VT Emulation
- Provides color emulation in both 7 and 8 bit modes
- Advanced Reporting
- The ECS provides logging capabilities on all activity being processed. In case of a transaction failure, the advanced reporting feature can access the logs to give details of the transaction to determine the cause of the failure
- The Lookie Utility allows a user with the correct security the ability to create custom reports from different log files with specific data such as MCT, traffic, or main terminal logs
- The administrator can track user transactions/li>
- Emulation Package
- Allows the user to modify any of the keys in the current emulation. It can also be used to take advantage of the unused keys
- Supports HTML, TVI, and WYSE emulations
- Force Validation
- Client profiles are validated from the ECS. Any changes made to the client profile on the ECS are automatically forced down stream to the client application
- Denies access if a profile does not match the ECS specifications
- In order to gain access to a ComObject or service on the ECS, the client must have access set in the client table, access to the service in the ECS security table, and have ECS security level required by the ECS. Otherwise the request for service is rejected
- Client has the ability to support connections to ComObjects on multiple ECS Servers.
- Multi Session Communications
- Provides the user to have access to multiple ECS sessions up and active at the same time.
- Network Analysis Functions
- Provides a set of tools to create reports and graphically display data
- Enhanced Windows Function Package
- Provides a set of functions to automatically navigate and perform tasks in Windows applications
Modules
- Batch Module
- The transaction requests are placed in queue in the order they are received (FIFO) and are processed as the peripheral becomes accessible.
- The Batch Module provides an interface point for billing systems and plant facility management systems to submit changes without having direct access to switch or peripherals.
- The TCP/IP interface gives the ability for any operating system (AS400, WIN2000, WINNT, UNIX, LINUX, etc.) to send batch requests to the ECS for processing, provided they contain the necessary security information to attach to the ECS.
- Enhanced Data Acquisition Controller (DAC) Module
- Allows for the ability to capture switch or peripheral logs on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. DAC trap tables now provide 100 traps to extend the monitoring and e-mail notification capabilities of this module.
- Provides the ability to integrate to the RLJL Alarm Surveillance & Notification Systemâ„¢ (ASN). All DAC trap tables can be linked to the Alarm Link feature to pass any trap message to the ASN for action to be taken in the event that an alarm trap is activated.
- Enhanced Profile Administrator Module
- Allows ECS administration to modify objects from anywhere on the network automatically updating all clients or groups affected by changes.
- All users' objects are stored backed up to the ECS which allows the Administrator to backup all users' objects simultaneously.
- The administration may login from any client on the LAN, WAN, or secure Firewall and access his personal profile, including all objects.
Expansion Options
- Remote Access Package (RAP)
- Provides communications with peripherals outside of a central office (e.g. remote site) using serial or telnet communications.
- Eliminates having to roll a truck prematurely, giving you a chance to analyze the problems in advance.
- Auto Recovery Utility
- Monitors the ECS for the event of a program crash.
- In the event of a program crash, the system sends DSC support an email with the debug information and restarts the ECS server.
- Will have the ECS back up and online in 30 seconds.
- If the ECS does not restart correctly, the utility will reboot the server.
- GUIVirt Utility
- Allows for peripherals with proprietary GUI software to be accessed via the ECS. The GUIVirt feature does not alter the data flow between the peripheral and the GUI in any way. It only encapsulates the packet into the encrypted format and restores it to the original state at the ECS. This allows the user to take advantage of the secure connection through the ECS.
- Auto Backup Utility
- Allows for ECS to be backed up offsite to DSC when appropriate. This feature requires a Platinum or Gold maintenance contract, but ensures the ECS and all user objects will always be backed up.
- IGZ Cabinet
- Cabinet in which the RLJL Suite is installed which prevents violation of the Isolated Ground Zone and obtains system power from CO-48VDC power plant.
- Allows for a neater appearance.
The RLJL Enterprise Communications Server™(ECS) provides
a centralized location for administering and monitoring all network
equipment on and off site. The ECS logs, manipulates, sorts, and
stores data from all systems and equipment connected to it. Systems
and equipment communicate with the ECS using a telnet or serial
connection. The mated client program provides a firewall that
allows the program
administrator to determine who has access to each system and piece
of equipment and how much access they have.
The ECS is a money saving program in that any command or action
that can be performed on equipment by a human being (hardware replacement
excluded) can be automated. With the ECS, repetitive and redundant
tasks can be eliminated from any employee's schedule, allowing time
for other projects and duties. For example, in the telecommunications
industry the ECS can be used to automate the cut off and restore process
of service.
